Poem: In Freedom We Stand
In Freedom We Stand
Many lives were given to lead the way to a better life
Those left standing did not know if when they wake if it will be their last day present
Here they will walk a path knowing what dangers await them
The second step taken will be to either victory or loss this was unknownWhat was the last memories that the past comrades had, they may wonder
Yet there is no time to think of either the past or the future
Paths come to view but nothing seems to be clear
Will this be a spot for refuge or a place that awaits them horror, this they may have wondered
On they keep marching for aware of their surroundings they have to be
Screams they hear from the distance that will forever be locked in history
This day they may have survived yet no promises of tomorrow they can see
Knowing that they must continue for in Freedom they must fight to be
Those that are damaged for what they have believed in
Wondering one must be if tomorrow the struggles will be even greater
Will the others they fought for recognize their pain and sorrow
Or will they walk away in hate for the lost they have suffered
Heroes are recognized and awarded for their bravery yet others yell in anguish
Do we hear all the stories or just the ones we so desire
Alone those who fought for our freedom stand in silence
Others rejoice on the glory but so many still live in the yester years
As we have enjoyed for hundreds of years our wealth and freedom
Still so many have lost the memories of the ones who awarded us this Gift of glory
Here in Freedom we stand for so many years and many our fighting for us to keep it
Let us remember that the glory belongs to those who gave this Freedom that we so easily stand in today
For there were many who gave of their life so we can all have and keep this land of liberty

Let’s all honor those that made this beautiful country free for all of us, be mindful that many lives were lost in that dream.
